DeskRoster helps you make a classroom seating chart in your browser. Add your student list, arrange desks and set any seating rules you need. Review the arrangement before printing, and change individual seats as needed.
What the tool checks
The editor checks seat assignments against your rules, such as keeping a student in one seat or keeping two students apart. You review the result before applying it. The search may stop without finding an arrangement, and some preferences may remain unmet.
Check desk dimensions, aisle widths and access in your room. DeskRoster does not measure these or assess classroom safety, accessibility or learning outcomes. The templates start with 24 seats; adjust them to your class size.
How this documentation is made
The guides explain the editor’s controls, seating rules, imports and exports. They were written with AI assistance and checked against the product code. Student names in examples are fictional. These guides have not been validated through teacher reviews or classroom trials.
Layout comparisons explain how the desks are arranged and which rules work with them. They do not assess learning outcomes. The instructions and examples need to be checked again when the editor changes.
Local saving
Classes are saved in this browser on this device. You do not need an account, and classes do not sync between devices. Wait for Saved on this device before closing the editor. Clearing browser data can remove saved classes. A PDF contains only the printed chart.
